L-Arginine

Arginine is an essential amino acid that our body needs in order to live. Arginine has been shown to offer benefits to people that have risk factors including:

1. Arteriosclerosis

2. Atherosclerosis

3. High Blood Pressure

3. Erectile dysfunction

Arginine is a precursor to nitric oxide, which means that, Arginine is converted to nitric oxide gas once the body consumes it.

In 1998 three Americans were awarded the Noble Prize in Medicine for discovering the Nitric Oxide Pathway.

Dr. Jonathan S. Stamler, a professor at Duke University Medical Center, put it best when he said of Nitric Oxide:
"It does everything, everywhere. You cannot name a major cellular response or physiological effect in which (Nitric Oxide) is not implicated. It's involved in complex behavioral changes in the brain, airway relaxation, beating of the heart, dilation of blood vessels, regulation of intestinal movement, function of blood cells, the immune system, even how fingers and arms move."

WOW! With a statement like that everyone should want to take Arginine.

Arginine has many other benefits, that may be effective in the following:

1. Restore normal endothelial function in Hypercholesterolemia

2. Reversing consequences of Coronary Artery Disease

3. Decreasing cholesterol and triglycerides

4. Improves walking distance in Peripheral Vascular Disease

5. Improves outcome after bypass surgery

6. Decreases High Blood Pressure

7. Increases Human Growth Hormone

8. Improves sexual function

9. Improves exercise tolerance

10. Decreasing cholesterol and triglycerides

11. Improves Heart Failure

12. Improves Asthma

13. Improves renal function

14. Improves muscle performance

15. Improves Diabetes and reverses Damage

16. Reduces blood clots and strokes

17. Improves healing

18. Reduces Ulcers

WOW! That is to only name a few of the benefits.

It is best to take Arginine in a liquid form, and not powder or pill form. Arginine also works best when combined with L-citrulline. There are some other vitamins and minerals that work well with Arginine, I will tell about later in another article.
